In Humanity’s Service while Achieving Self-Reliance

28-year-old Bhumi Desai is the youngest of three daughters of Vaghji Desai, an auto rickshaw driver. He is the only breadwinner in the family – he and his wife Janak wished that Bhumi joins the nursing line to earn a respectable job and income. Fortunately, during a hospital visit, they got some information about the General Duty Assistant (GDA) course being run at the Adani Skill Development Centre (ASDC) in Ahmedabad’s Vadaj area.

One visit to ASDC ensured that Bhumi’s vague wish becomes an attainable goal. After completing the course successfully, she enrolled in one on-the-job training in a nearby city hospital. During the second wave of COVID, where people were abiding to a strict lockdown, she served in Adani Vidya Mandir Covid Care Centre for more than one month. Her duty timings were 9 PM to 8 AM. She was responsible for complete patient care i.e., preparing beds, transferring patients, taking care of them, managing their medicines and so on.

Based on her sincerity and good feedback, she is now working at a childcare hospital in Ahmedabad, taking care of newly born and other young children.
